Mother’s Day – I love you mom – a little history lesson

Mother’s Day looks back on an old tradition and history. As early as 250 years before Christ, a kind of Mother’s Day festival was held for Roman and Greek goddesses. Also during the reign of Henry III, Mother Church was the focus of “Mothering Days”. Even Napoleon suggested the establishment of a Mother’s Day in 1806, but did not continue his plan after the Battle of Waterloo. Why only?? Mother’s Day – I love you mom.

In Austria, we have celebrated Mother’s Day since 1924. Marianne Hainisch is considered the founder of the women’s movement and the initiator of Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day – a trip around the world:

But not all over the world will mothers be celebrated next Sunday.

If your mother lives in Norway, then there were probably already Mother’s Day gifts. There, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the 2nd Sunday in February. In most countries, including Austria, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the 2nd Sunday in May. That’s May 12, 2019.

In the following countries, kitchens will be devastated and mothers will be revered next Sunday:

Indonesian mothers still have to be patient, because they will not receive their Mother’s Day gifts until shortly before Christmas on December 22nd.
