The word Mama as a familiar, loving term for mother has been used since the 17th century.
Originally, it was derived from the French word “maman.” Therefore, the second syllable of the word was initially emphasized.

The original form is the Latin word “mamma”, which means mother, wet nurse, breast. There are several derivations of this form throughout Europe, but also internationally.
